What Is Waxdog? The answer to the question everyone is asking. Waxdog|Com

As often as I give out this URL, people ask, “What is Waxdog?” Well here is my story.

In early 2000, I was looking for a domain name to purchase for personal use. I wanted a place where I could store my sites and safely keep them from linkrot. Many of my early sites were based on local ISPs, a situation which was anything but permanent. So I began looking for a good place to store sites and receive email – one that could follow me from location to location.

My requirement for the new domain name was that it should be short and not easily mispronounced or susceptible to multiple spellings. I wanted it to be memorable and catchy, youthful and humorous; but not too unprofessional. The words in the domain had to blend together and hint at a pleasing, yet subtle mental imagery. It was during this time of search for the perfect domain that I developed an utter disdain for cybersquatters, sitting greedily on great-sounding domains. Finally, after great deliberation, I chose Waxdog. It did not mean anything, but I liked the way it sounded and it had the right mix of qualities that I was looking for.

This site chronicles all of my existence on the web. In many ways it is a virtual attic filled with junk, treasure, and (hopefully) the glimmerings of genius. Please feel free to browse and sift through the sites you find here. If you like what you see, drop me a note, I’d really like to hear from you.
